Aikman Chambers
Big Country Nights
Hi! My name is Aikman Chambers I host Big Country Nights here on WOVV every Tuesday evening at 5PM. For a Solid hour I play nothing but the best of the new and the gold that country music has to offer. From the 50s-Present I play it all! I have been in Radio since I was 16 Years old! Currently I am a Sports Director/Broadcaster for a Small Market AM/FM Station in Western North Carolina.

Beatle Haddad
Broadcaster
Playing tunes for the masses! Trying to mix it up!

Bill Cole
Voice of the Dolphins
Bill Cole is The Voice of the Dolphins, calling our local basketball games live! He is also the past host of First and Cole, a show devoted to the recap of national sporting events each week.

Daphne Bennink
Carnal Pleasures (Hiatus)
Daphne Bennink’s Carnal Pleasures ran on WOVV for 4-5 years. She is currently on hiatus and we look forward to her return. Carnal Pleasures is a forum where one can discuss, listen and celebrate the good life; food, wine, lifestyle and music. She continues to be an active supporter of WOVV and serves on the WOVV Board of Directors.

Debbie Wells
The Progressive Tide (Hiatus)
For about 5 years, Clayton and I partnered to bring you The Progressive Tide, a two hour Thursday evening show devoted exclusively to Woodstock era classic rock. Some of our favorites were Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton in all his varied forms, The Grateful Dead, CSNY, and all their counterparts from the 1960’s and 1970’s. We have been on a two-year hiatus, but are talking about starting again sometime in 2017. Keep listening.

Dennis James
A Life In Rock
A Life In Rock started on WOVV in September 2015 after I had made many visits to the island…After decades spent as a performer, in Australia primarily, the premise of my radio show is to feature a good deal of Aussie classic rock most of which is unknown to American audiences. That, combined with across the board International classic hits, album tracks and “B” sides makes up A Life In Rock which
emanates from my home studio in Pittsburgh as well as a number of live shows from the WOVV studio
mostly dueting verbally with Tommy Hutcherson, well known WOVV stablemate!!!

John Alexanderson
Island Morning Mix
“Eclectic as Always” – “The music of the BETTER part of the Twentieth Century” – “The Hits from the Twenties through the Nineties” … familiar phrases that I use during my WOVV spot, “Island Morning Mix,” Saturdays 8-10AM. I’m one of the veterans here at WOVV and a hopeless Yankee from the Philadelphia area. Yet, I spend about 3 months of each year in Ocracoke. Tune in to see what’s up on Saturday mornings…I think you will be hooked!

John Simpson
Broadcaster
Greetings and welcome to WOVV Radio. As an on air personality-Carolina John- broadcasting each Saturday from 6pm to 8pm, I play a variety of music from swing to modern, with rock from the 70’s and 80’s. Growing up on Ocracoke, I was a southern rock fan, but enjoyed all styles of music, especially live music. I have been broadcasting my shows since September 2013 each Saturday evening. This past year I became a WOVV board member. I encourage you to tune in and enjoy the shows.

LeAnne Astin
Broadcaster
Every week, LeAnne Astin and her husband/producer Ted choose a show theme based on what’s happening on the island or around the OBX, then put together a playlist of amazing and rarely heard music based on the theme. From rock to reggae, psychedelia to psychobilly, funk to folk, swing to soul, blues to bluegrass, gospel to glam…show tunes, kids music, parodies and novelties, too…almost anything is on the table. They also throw in musical history, fun facts, and more than a few bad puns. It all adds up to a sometimes cool, sometimes strange, but always interesting and eclectic mix.

Matthew "Catbird" Tolson
Matthew Tolson aka Catbird—Bringing a weekly dose of “vitamin P”, pulse raising, adrenaline inducing, heart pounding, fist pumping punk rock! Punk, ska, rock-a-billy, surfrock, from late 70’s to present day.

Mike Norris
Redneck Radio (Hiatus)
Mike Norris is a regular visitor to Ocracoke and a longtime supporter and voice on WOVV. He aired his Redneck Radio show on WOVV from our first year until 2015, heralded as True Roots and Americana Music specializing in independent artists who play bluegrass, old time, honky tonk, outlaw and classic country, western swing, rockabilly, surfbilly, alt country, and everything in between.

Peter Vankevich
Just Good Music, What's Happening On Ocracoke, Songs To Share
Peter Vankevich moved to Ocracoke on Feb. 1, 2012. Five weeks later he launched his music radio show, Theme Tunes, running Mondays, 8-10 pm and rebroadcast on Friday’s 6-8 pm. He also hosts What’s Happening on Ocracoke, a news/cultural show on Friday mornings, 11:30 am. His third show, Songs to Share, is an impromptu program where members and special guests bring in a playlist and have a chance to get on-air.

Richard Bryant
The Week That Is
I am about an unapologetic assault on the mediocrity, boredom, and conventional wisdom that have come to define contemporary living. I want to call into question the social and institutional inertia that seems to prohibit us living vibrant lives. I want to aggressively challenge the norms which we’ve carved in stone to create sacred cows and the practices that have no basis in kindness, courage, and love. Join me each Thursday night as we make this journey on The Week That Is. Oh, my musical taste are impeccable.

Robert Raborn
Special Events Broadcaster (Hiatus)
Robert Raborn is our founder, board member and holder of the original vision! We still get to hear Robert on the air during special events such as local concerts and interviews.

Sean Death
Former Broadcaster (Hiatus)
Sean Death spent a couple summers on the air everyday during the lunch hours. Wildly popular with visitors and locals alike, he described his time on the air as keeping the lunch coma away, and played cheesy 80’s, newer alternative, country and requests. It’s been a while since we heard him on the sir, but he continues his support as host of events, board member and tech master!

Showell Blades
The Eclectic Blanket
I’ve been doing The Eclectic Blanket on Tuesday from 8-10 pm remotely for a couple of years and my focus is on everything and nothing in particular: on most non-classical genres and featuring songs mostly done after 1960: blues, folk, jazz, country, rock, pop, bluegrass, electronica, soul, disco, new age, punk, new wave, experimental, world music, and anything else I happen to like or have just heard (the primary criteria and I hope you like it). While I’m guilty of playing hits, I try to focus on deep cuts and stuff you maybe won’t hear on commercial radio and always identify the songs and often tell a little bit about them, and sometimes do a theme, when I’m not being totally random and merely following one song with another because that’s what the song I just played reminded me of (I may be A.D.D.). At some point, I may come up with a Classical Music show and start going live in the studio.

Tom Cain
Down Creek Blues
Down Creek Blues has been a staple of the WOVV program mix since early 2011. I play a wide mix of the old time blues performers, the well known greats, and the up and coming blues artists of today. Sometimes I sneak in a little jazz as well! You’re also likely to hear me show up in the studio at other random times to play a wide mix of what I like, particularly old rock & roll. Keep listening!!!

Tommy Ascher
Broadcaster
Playing some of my favorites and, hopefully, some of yours, too…since 2012.

Tommy Hutcherson
Rockin' Radio Show
I started my Rockin’ Radio Show in May of 2013 spotlighting on Classic Rock, Blues and killer older tunes. I have a passion for live music and playing drums and have played live music on the island for over 30 years. I served on the board of directors in 2014 & 2015, Co-Chaired the board in 2016 and now I’m Chairman of the Board for 2017. I love WOVV and devote much time, energy and passion into making our Radio Station the best we can be. Please support local radio and please advise me of challenges that may need attention, without you we are not on the air.
